-------------------------------------

Join The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills (THSSH) at the historic Bernards Inn for a return to its Speakeasy days of the 1920’s as we bring in New Jersey's craft distillers for a talk and taste event - Distilling in the Somerset Hills. This is a chance to meet people from our area and learn a about our areas rich distilling past past, as well as the present and future.

Taste, eat, drink while you learn about distilling and bootlegging history in the Somerset Hills. Held at the historic Bernards Inn, which was once a speakeasy, Claremont Distillery and Jersey Artisan Distillery will be bringing everything they make for sampling (over 10 varieties). Tastings include award winning vodka, moonshine, whiskey, peach & blueberry vodka, light and dark rums.

In addition to the tasting, special event signature cocktails will be available courtesy of our participants. These are their best recommend concoctions. You'll get a drink menu when you sign in. For those that want beer/wine/non-signature drinks, a regular cash bar will be available.

The Bernards Inns has capacity limits to the downstairs Tasting Room, so the event will have two tracts going on simultaneously. After the VIP and Social Hour, half the group goes to the tasting room, while the other stays in the ballroom. After 45 minutes, we'll reverse. Don't worry, everyone participates in both activities.

The mission of The Historical Society of the Somerset Hills (THSSH) is to acquire, conserve and share local artifacts and information on matters of local historic interest; cultivate interest in local history; encourage the preservation of local historic resources; facilitate historic research; and preserve, operate, and interpret the Brick Academy.

To further this mission, THSSH sponsors events and activities that promote community awareness and appreciation of the history and architecture of the Somerset Hills. THSSH headquarters is at the Brick Academy in the Basking Ridge section of Bernards Township, where our collections of items of local historic interest are available to the public.
